The Garmin Venu X1 and vivoactive 6 smartwatches are receiving software version 12.74. It follows the 12.70 release in late August 2025, which brought the new Evening Report feature and other improvements for these wearables.
With software version 12.74, Garmin is rolling out a bug fix linked to Wi-Fi downloads. According to posts in the Garmin forum, users recently received unexpected ‘Transfer complete (x files failed )' notifications when attempting to sync over Wi-Fi. This issue also appears to have prevented some users of the Venu X1 and vivoactive 6 wearables from downloading the 12.70 update over Wi-Fi, meaning they had to resort to using Garmin Express. The bug fix included with beta version 12.74 also seems to resolve related Wi-Fi connectivity problems.
Garmin has confirmed that software version 12.74 has been pushed to 20% of eligible users so far. It can be manually synced when you go to Menu > Settings > System > Software Update, or through Garmin Express. It remains to be seen when a new beta testing cycle will begin for users of the vivoactive 6 and Venu X1 (curr. $799.99 at Amazon) smartwatches.
