The Apple Watch Series 11 virtually has the same design as its predecessor, but the display cover of the cheaper aluminum version has been redesigned and is now twice as scratch-resistant. Apple has installed a 5G modem in the cellular model instead of just an LTE modem, which should enable better call quality and extended network coverage.
Arguably the most significant innovation is that the Apple Watch Series 11 can detect high blood pressure. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, the smartwatch doesn't need to be calibrated with a conventional blood pressure monitor, although it cannot display accurate readings. Sleep tracking gets a new "Sleep Score", which shows users at a glance how restful their sleep was the previous night using a numerical value from 0 to 100.
At least equally exciting is that the Apple Watch will have a longer battery life for the first time since the launch of the first-generation Apple Watch: the battery is now expected to last 24 hours, up from the previous model's 18 hours. Despite the new battery, the smartwatch's housing is expected to be slightly thinner. Apart from these new features, the features are almost identical to those of the previous model, including an ECG, skin temperature sensor, a bright OLED display, and high-quality speakers and microphones for using Siri and making calls.
Price and availability
The Apple Watch Series 11 is now available for pre-order from the Apple Online Store, with shipping expected to begin on September 19. The base model with a 42 mm aluminum case costs $399, while Apple charges $429 for the 46 mm version. The integrated 5G modem is available for an additional $100. A model with a titanium case and 5G modem costs $699 (42 mm) and $749 (46 mm), respectively.
