Philips Hue is discontinuing some of its older smart lighting products, shortly after it unveiled new ranges at IFA 2025. Some of these latest innovations, such as the new Full Spectrum A19/E27 Bulbs, the Hue Bridge Pro and the Essential smart bulbs, are already available at retailers like Amazon.
Signify, the company behind the Philips Hue brand, recently confirmed to Hueblog.com that it was discontinuing four of its older strip lights. These models are as follows:
- Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus
- Philips Hue Solo Lightstrip
- Philips Hue Ambiance Gradient Lightstrip
- Philips Hue Outdoor Lightstrip
These will be replaced with the following seven new smart strip light products:
- Philips Hue OmniGlow strip light
- Philips Hue Flux strip light
- Philips Hue Flux ultra bright strip light
- Philips Hue Flux outdoor strip light
- Philips Hue neon outdoor strip light
- Philips Hue Essential strip light
- Philips Hue Essential flex strip light
At the lower end of the new range are the Essential products, with basic functionality and a lower price point. The range-topping model is the OmniGlow strip light, said to be more than twice as bright as its predecessors. In between these products are the Flux strip lights and a second neon model designed for outdoor use. The Flux strip lights and the neon outdoor strip light will be released in October, with the OmniGlow products launching in November and the Essential models following in December.
It appears that Signify plans to stop manufacturing these older products, or it may have done so already. The current stock will be sold, and these models are expected to be supported for some time. It is worth noting that the Play gradient lightstrip range, designed for TVs and monitors, will not be discontinued.
