Shelly launches new Wall Display XL smart home hub

Shelly has launched the Wall Display XL in Europe. As its name indicates, this new smart home control panel offers a larger 10.1-inch HD color touchscreen display, which can be used to control connected devices like lights, fans and dehumidifiers. It it marketed as suitable for a home, hotel room or another commercial space.

The Shelly Wall Display XL has built-in relay switching, allowing you to control appliances up to 1,500W. To the right hand side of the display are four customizable buttons, which could be used to quickly trigger an action or scene. As well as controlling devices, the smart display can be used to monitor the power usage of connected Shelly PM devices. There are two built-in 2W stereo speakers for notifications and alarms, though it can also be connected to Sonos speakers or other Bluetooth models.

Shelly’s Wall Display XL has an integrated proximity sensor, which can automatically switch on the display when someone is nearby, and there is also a manual on/off switch. Plus, the device’s lux sensor can be used to intelligently adjust connected smart home devices. It supports Bluetooth 5.4 and dual-band Wi-Fi 6, and is compatible with the Shelly Smart Control app, MQTT and Home Assistant. It is worth noting that it does not support integrations with Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings.

The Shelly Wall Display XL is designed to be installed in a regular electric wall box, compatible with EU standard switch boxes. It measures 155.8 x 272.5 x 38.3 mm (6.13 x 10.7 x 1.50 inches), and there are two shell color options: Black with Grey frame and Black with Black frame. You can now buy the Shelly Wall Display XL at the brand’s online store in Europe for €289.00. Whether or when this product could be released in the US remains to be seen.
