TP-Link has announced the Tapo P410M, an outdoor smart plug designed to support the Matter standard while offering weather resistance, power monitoring, and cross-platform compatibility.
The device is IP54-certified, providing protection against dust and water splashes, and is specified to operate in temperatures ranging from –20 °C to +50 °C. It connects via Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz) and Bluetooth LE, allowing setup through the Tapo app or direct pairing using a Matter QR code without requiring an additional hub.
Once configured, the plug can be controlled through the app or voice assistants such as Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri Shortcuts. Users can also set automated schedules, timers, or routines for connected appliances such as outdoor lighting and water pumps.
The P410M includes zero-cross switching to reduce electrical stress and extend relay lifespan, along with overheat, overload, and child-safety protection. An encrypted Wi-Fi connection is used for secure communication.
The smart plug also features real-time energy monitoring with bidirectional flow detection, enabling it to track both power consumption and feedback. This makes it suitable for applications such as balcony solar systems (Balkonkraftwerke), allowing users to manage connected devices based on available surplus energy.
The TP-Link Tapo P410M is available in Europe for €24.90. You can check the official Tapo page for all the details.
