A Garmin feature which was previously only available to Connect+ subscribers appears to be available for more smartwatch users. The subscription service launched earlier in 2025, with a series of new tools locked behind this paywall. Now, a report suggests that a LiveTrack-related feature is now available for some other users.

Garmin could be making one of its subscriber only features available to more smartwatch users. Back in March 2025, the company introduced the new Connect+ subscription service, bringing a range of new features which were only offered to subscribers paying $6.99 per month (or $69.99 per year).

These features included “LiveTrack enhancements”; the basic version of LiveTrack enables friends and family to track your location during an activity. The optional extras for subscribers included text notifications to followers and the ability to create a custom LiveTrack profile page.

According to a recent report by Garmin Rumors, the LiveTrack feature is being updated, with a refreshed design. Plus, the blog indicates that the ability to personalize a LiveTrack homepage is now available to anyone with a connectivity subscription. This means that inReach subscribers will also be able to use this feature, without needing to also pay for the Garmin Connect+ subscription; this could benefit users of the recently released Garmin Fenix 8 Pro smartwatch (curr. $1,299.99 at Amazon). It appears that LiveTrack information sent via text remains a Garmin Connect+ only feature.

As a reminder, some of the other premium Garmin Connect+ features include special coaching guidance for Garmin Coach training plans, exclusive badge challenges, and 3D maps. It is unclear whether or when more Garmin Connect+ features could become available for users of the brand’s smartwatches who pay for alternative subscriptions like inReach or Outdoor Maps+.
