Garmin has seemingly confirmed that more features for Connect+ subscribers are on the way. The subscription service, priced at $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year, launched in March 2025, shortly before the brand unveiled the vivoactive 6 (curr. $299.99 at Amazon). It includes features like additional Garmin Coach training plan guidance, exclusive badge challenges and advanced LiveTrack functionality.
In a recent earnings call, Garmin’s President and CEO Cliff Pemble answered questions about the Connect+ subscription. They said that, from the company’s perspective, “the response has been positive”, despite customer pushback in the brand’s online forum and on Reddit. As for why Connect+ was introduced this year, the company indicated that this was due to the investment it was making in AI-based insights for users.
On the topic of new features, Pemble stated that certain upcoming functionality would be reserved for Connect+ subscribers. Unfortunately, no further details about these tools were provided. Garmin reaffirmed that it was not planning on “taking any features away from people”, with Connect+ set to gain new, currently unannounced tools. It also said that it has a “strong commitment” to continuing to develop Garmin Connect for all smartwatch users, whether or not they opted for the premium subscription.
It remains to be seen when new features will be added to the Connect+ subscription, and whether this will convince more of the brand’s smartwatch users to join this paid tier.
