Google confirms new Home Smart Speaker release, as Spring 2026 deadline approaches

At I/O last month, Google was expected to share details about its next smart speaker. Nothing happened at the event, but a recent retailer listing showed a June 25 release date, in line with Google’s initial Spring 2026 release window. Now, a new update from Google confirms the launch for next week.
A check-in and thank you email from Anish Kattukaran, Chief Product Officer, Google Home & Nest, reached our inbox, and likely other users as well. It talks about developments to Gemini for home and thanks customers for their feedback. At the end, it states, “those of you who have been patiently waiting for a certain speaker... keep a very close eye on your inbox next week.”
This is likely the new Google Home Speaker that was first teased in October last year, with a Spring 2026 release date. With Spring almost over, Google has finally shared a release timeline. Recently, a Best Buy Canada listing showed up with a June 25 release date. That has since been changed to “Coming soon.” It could be that Google announces the new smart speaker between June 15 and June 22, with sales starting on June 25.
The Google Home Speaker will have a different shape compared to the old Google Nest mini speaker, more like a squished Apple HomePod mini. It will allow users to pair two with a Google TV Streamer for a surround sound experience. There will be four colors, namely, Berry, Hazel, Jade, and Porcelain. Notably, the Best Buy listing only shows the Hazel and Porcelain colors. The speaker will be priced at $100.
