New Philips Hue integration rolling out as app update arrives

Philips Hue smart home users can control devices using the Sonos Voice Control feature. This integration was reported earlier this year, with the functionality now available for many users.

The Philips Hue voice control feature is rolling out to Sonos users in firmware updates. In a forum post, a Sonos representative lists five voice commands, which allow users to adjust the brightness, change the color, or switch on or off a light. Users will also be able to trigger smart scenes and remotely control smart plugs with these voice commands. It will be pushed to the following products: Arc Ultra, Arc, Beam (gen 1 and 2), Era 100, Era 300, One, Move, Move 2, Roam, Roam 2, and Era 100 Pro.

You can set up the integration through the Philips Hue app, going to Settings > Smart home > (+) > Sonos. It is worth noting that, to use this feature, you must have a Philips Hue Bridge or a Philips Hue Bridge Pro (curr. $98.99 at Amazon). Another limitation of the Philips Hue and Sonos integration is that it currently only supports two languages, US English and French, as is the case with the wider Sonos Voice Control feature. Unfortunately, it is unclear when support for other languages could arrive.

Alongside this, Philips Hue has also released an update for its smartphone app, version 5.51.0. The release notes indicate that it brings bug fixes, though these are not named. Plus, there are said to be stability enhancements, but again, further details are not provided.
