Sonos is reportedly working on a new voice command feature for Philips Hue smart home products. This would be a first for the brand; while Sonos’ Voice Control feature can already be used to request music from streaming services or adjust the volume, for example, it does not currently support controls of smart home products.
Sonos has yet to officially confirm Voice Control’s support for Philips Hue products. As such, it is unclear exactly what this feature will look like. It is likely that users will wake the assistant in the same way, starting the commands with “Hey Sonos…”. It has been speculated in the report by Hueblog.com that Philips Hue users will be able to use this tool to switch smart lights on and off, and to adjust the brightness of these lights. It may also be possible to trigger smart lighting scenes with voice commands.
It is worth noting that, technically, Sonos users can already control Philips Hue products through their speaker when they use Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. However, there have historically been issues with these integrations.
The Sonos Voice Control for Philips Hue products is expected to arrive before the end of 2025. However, an exact release date has not been provided. Sonos Voice Control is available on many of the brand’s products, including the Era 100 speaker (curr. $179 at Amazon).
