IKEA and Best Buy have announced a new cross-band retail experience for shoppers in the US. The Swedish furniture store said that the project aimed to make it easier for customers to create their ideal kitchens and laundry rooms, considering both home furnishings and appliances.
The IKEA shop-in-shop experience will allow Best Buy customers to browse IKEA furniture in some stores. In the announcement, the company suggests that users will be able to see how an oven or TV could look in an IKEA kitchen, or how a washing machine could fit with one of the brand’s storage systems. This could also be an opportunity for users to consider adding smart home products to these rooms, like a robot vacuum or smart lights.
This is said to be the first experience of its kind for IKEA customers in the US. Each space will measure around 1,000 ft² (~93 m²) in size, with experts from both IKEA and Best Buy on hand to help customers find their ideal kitchen, laundry or storage solution.
The IKEA shop-in-shop at Best Buy will arrive later this year in ten locations across Florida and Texas (listed below). Plus, at stores in Lakeland, Florida and Alamo Ranch, Texas, customers will be able to pick up IKEA goods ordered in store or from IKEA.com. The exact launch date for each store remains under wraps, and it is unclear whether this experience will roll out to other states in the future.
