Smart Camera 4C 3.5K: Xiaomi intros new affordable security camera with upgraded sensor

The upgraded Xiaomi Smart Camera 4C has made its official debut in China. Compared to the previous version, the new security camera comes with an upgraded 6 MP sensor. Per the company, it's capable of capturing videos at 3200 x 1800 pixels, and thanks to the AI-enhanced features, the captures are said to remain bright at night.

Xiaomi also highlights that the wireless connectivity department of the smart camera has seen an upgrade. More specifically, it's said to come with an advanced dual-band WiFi 6 chip for better coverage than the predecessor. This upgrade allows smooth previews on mobile devices as well.

Like most of the other security cameras from Xiaomi, the Smart Camera 4C 3.5K can detect humans and pets. Users can also track the movement within the camera's range.

Security-wise, the smart camera is powered by the MJA1 security chip, which offers cloud transmission encryption. There's a built-in physical lens cover, allowing users to block the sight of the camera at preferred time periods or manually when needed.

Among the other highlights of the Smart Camera 4C 3.5K are a horizontal viewing angle of 360° and 116° vertical coverage, support for cloud and NAS integration, a physical microSD card slot (256 GB SanDisk microSDXC curr. $24.99 on Amazon), and 940 nm infrared fill lights. This updated security camera is currently available to pre-order in China at CNY 199, which is around $28. While Xiaomi has yet to announce when it will be available to the global market, it could make an international debut under the C-series lineup.
