The Tapo C246D Dual Lens 2K Pan Tilt Security Camera has been released in North America and Europe. This smart home product from the TP-Link sub-brand is designed for use indoors or outdoors, rated as IP65 dust and water resistant, and is said to “minimize blind spots for optimal coverage”.
Tapo’s C246D is the brand’s first model to feature two 2K 3MP lenses. These allow you to monitor two different areas of your property simultaneously. The upper wide-angle camera has a 125° field of view (FOV), while the lower camera has a 6 mm telephoto lens and can pan 360° and tilt 135°. The lower camera can adjust its position automatically to track moving objects. Plus, users can get instant push notifications when motion, people, pets or vehicles are detected; the company notes that this is a free feature.
The C246D also offers several night vision modes. Users can choose to capture footage in full color thanks to integrated spotlights, in black and white with infrared, or the Smart Mode uses light detection to select the best mode for each scenario. Video can be stored on an up to 512 GB microSD card (not included), or in the cloud with a Tapo Car subscription. Another feature is two-way audio, possible thanks to an integrated speaker and microphone. Plus, the wired camera works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings.
You can now buy the white TP-Link Tapo C246D Dual Lens 2K Pan Tilt Security Camera for $69.99/£84.99/€74.99. In the US, you can buy the model directly from the brand or at Amazon.
