Home Assistant recently updated its companion app for Android to version 2025.7. It follows the 2025.6 update, which enabled edge-to-edge for the settings screens and widget configuration activities.
With version 2025.7.1, users get a new basic invite flow, which is said to make it easier to add new users or devices to your setup. The My Links feature has also been improved, now taking users to the chosen destination in a single click. As a reminder, this tool can be used to create custom URLs to take users directly to a settings page, integration or add-on. You can find the complete change log on GitHub.
In an accompanying blog post, the company stated that it was planning to continue the rollout of edge-to-edge support in more areas beyond the settings page. Another upcoming change is the end of support for Android 5.0 and Android 5.1, also known as Android Lollipop. However, the company indicates that less than 0.3% of installs of its Android app have been on devices using these operating systems.
Plus, Home Assistant notes that it has recently hired a dedicated Android developer, joining its existing Apple companion app developer. For context, the companion app for Android has around 400,000 daily active users and 1,000,000 monthly active users, having been installed approximately 6 million times over the years. When a 2025.7 update could arrive for the Home Assistant app for iOS is unclear.
