The Baseus S2 is a new surveillance camera currently available directly from the manufacturer for $200. Amazon, on the other hand, has the model listed with a whopping 35% discount for $130.
Designed for outdoor use, the S2 requires no cable connection at all. Data transmission takes place solely via Wi-Fi on the 2.4 GHz band. Local storage on a microSD card with up to 512 GB is supported. The IP67-certified camera comes with a battery that is said to last up to 150 days, but is theoretically unlimited with the accompanying solar panel, which automatically adjusts itself using sensors to capture the most sunlight possible.
The S2 supports 4K resolution, which should allow for finer details such as license plates or faces to be displayed. A dual system for motion detection is advertised, meaning that both radar technology and a PIR sensor are on board, the latter of which reacts to temperature differences. This can be useful since people are generally warmer than their surroundings.
Further features include AI recognition of faces, people, vehicles and animals, and up to 10 family members can be added to a whitelist in order to avoid false alarms. A 145° field of vision is specified, and colored night vision is also possible thanks to a built-in LED. Furthermore, the integration and use of voice assistants is also supported, allowing for audio communication with people in front of the camera.
