Xiaomi offers a comprehensive range of smart home devices, including various home security cameras (such as the C200 available on Amazon). Xiaomi products typically debut in China well before reaching other regions. The Xiaomi Outdoor Camera 4 is a new security camera featuring an f/1.6 lens and a single image sensor with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels – not to be confused with the dual-cam variant of the Camera 4. According to the company, the camera can deliver videos with a wide dynamic range as well as capture colour images at night, depending on lighting conditions. If no external light sources (such as street lamps) are present, the device can utilise its built-in regular LEDs or infrared LEDs for illumination.
In addition to data transfer over Wi-Fi, the Outdoor Camera 4 can save footage locally on a memory card or even on a network storage solution – without relying on mandatory cloud services. However, the security camera isn’t entirely wire-free, as it lacks both a battery and a solar panel. Ethernet connectivity is also available to provide more stable data transmission. Designed especially for outdoor use, the device is rated IP66 for dust and water resistance. Other notable features include AI functionality and two-way audio for communication with individuals near the camera. In China, the Xiaomi Outdoor Camera 4 carries a list price of CN¥389 (around US$54). Pricing and availability for other regions have yet to be announced.
