It didn't take long after the last Model Y APR financing promo for Tesla to start a new one. Despite that there is no shortage of demand expected this quarter, as the federal tax credit for the Model Y expires on September 30, the automaker still wants to maximize sales for some reason.
Previously, Tesla offered buyers of the new Model Y a 1.99% APR rate that was first scheduled to expire on June 16, but was extended until the end of last month to pad end-of-quarter sales numbers.
We are now barely after the first half of the month, and Tesla is introducing a new Model Y APR financing deal of 3.49%, down from the 4.99% interest rate it's been asking to finance the Model Y since the beginning of July.
The promo APR financing for the Model Y is valid for buyers with excellent credit who have ordered the new Model Y on July 17 or later date, and Tesla doesn't even set a deadline for the deal's expiration, just says it's "for a limited time."
Moreover, the minimum down payment has now been reduced to just 5% from the usual 15%, and Tesla says those who also qualify for the tax credit can also use it as a down payment on the Model Y. The financing terms are 3–5 years, with the 72-month financing jumping back up to 5% APR. The Tesla Model Y leases, on the other hand, now start from just $349.
Tesla also introduced a rather innovative deal running on inventory Model Y vehicles, too. Those who order a new Model Y from those that Tesla has already produced and has in stock, will be getting one paid upgrade for free.
Going to Tesla's inventory list reveals that those free upgrades vary by vehicle, and include both free colors that are otherwise a paid option, and 20" wheel upgrades. There are free interior upgrades, too, so there's something for everyone.
Some Model Y colors, such as Ultra Red or Quicksilver, cost $2,000, as do the 20’’ Helix 2.0 Wheels, so this is the maximum amount that Tesla is deducting from the price of an inventory Model Y with those options.
A Long Range RWD Model Y painted in Quicksilver, for instance, can now be had for $37,490, instead of $39,490 after tax credit, but the new Model Y upgrade promos can't be mixed and matched with, say, both a free color and free 20" wheels.
