In the week between August 4 and 10, Microsoft surprised players with six new titles for Xbox Game Pass. The following week brings just two additions, but they are big ones – most notably 9 Kings, a highly praised roguelike kingdom builder that entered Early Access on May 23. Since then, it has accumulated over 10,000 reviews, 92% of which are positive. Also joining the lineup is Aliens: Fireteam Elite, a co-op shooter set in the iconic Aliens universe.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite - August 12 (PC, console and cloud)
In Aliens: Fireteam Elite, players take on the role of a Colonial Marine responding to a distress call with their squad, 23 years after the events of the original trilogy. The mission leads them to the Katanga space station and the planet LV-895, where they face swarms of xenomorphs, dangerous experiments and ancient alien ruins. The game features four campaigns, each consisting of three interconnected missions, and plays as a cooperative third-person shooter for three marines – either with friends or AI allies. In linear, Left 4 Dead-style missions, xenomorphs and hostile synthetics attack from every direction, making strategic positioning and teamwork crucial. Randomized elements, such as challenge cards, ensure that each mission stays fresh.
9 Kings - August 14 (PC)
9 Kings is a fast-paced roguelike kingdom builder where players create their own realm and engage in massive battles. Each of the nine kings starts with a unique deck of buildings, troops and spells. By raiding rival kingdoms, players can claim their cards and tools, unlocking countless build possibilities and playstyles. True to roguelike tradition, defeat sends you back to the beginning to try again.
