Six exciting titles are arriving on Xbox Game Pass this week. If you enjoy the charm and challenge of indie games, you might want to check out Rain World, which joined the service on August 5 – a survival platformer that generated serious buzz after its first two DLCs dropped. For fans of blockbuster experiences, Assassin’s Creed Mirage arrives on Game Pass on August 7. See the full lineup of upcoming releases below.
Rain World - August 05 (Cloud, console and PC)
Rain World is a survival platformer that initially flew under the radar after its 2017 release. However, in early 2023, following the launch of its first DLC, Downpour, the game experienced a surge in popularity. That momentum continued with the March 2025 release of the expansion The Watcher, which, according to SteamDB, more than doubled the game’s previous peak player count – reaching over 10,000 concurrent players.
In Rain World, players step into the role of a cat-like creature struggling to survive in a desolate, industrial world ravaged by ecological collapse. The goal: gather food, dodge deadly predators and reach shelter before a lethal downpour strikes. A word of warning – the difficulty is brutally high.
Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector - August 06 (Xbox Series X|S)
In this dice-based RPG, you play as a fugitive robot – hunted, damaged and stripped of its memories. As you battle your way through the unforgiving Starward Belt, you steal a rundown ship and gradually gather a crew of fellow outcasts. Together, you struggle to survive in a ruthless, capitalist world.
Citizen Sleeper 2 blends dice mechanics with narrative-driven role-playing. Each day, players receive a set of dice to spend on actions like missions, conversations or repairs. Higher rolls improve your chances of success, but failure often comes with serious consequences. Your crew contributes extra dice and unique abilities, adding depth to your strategy. Between missions, you travel through the asteroid belt, encounter new characters and gather vital resources.
Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders - August 06 (Xbox Series X|S)
Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders is a sleek skiing game where players carve through tight turns, icy patches and steep descents – from snowy peaks all the way down to the valley floor. Precision is key, one wrong move and you’ll wipe out in the deep snow. But crashes are part of the fun. In addition to solo runs, the game features online races and co-op missions, letting you compete or explore new routes with others. Along the way, you can unlock new skis, outfits and tracks.
MechWarrior 5: Clans - August 06 (Xbox Series X|S)
MechWarrior 5: Clans is a mech shooter that drops players into the heart of the legendary Clan Invasion in the BattleTech universe. You step into the role of a freshly minted pilot from Clan Smoke Jaguar, fighting alongside a five-member Star unit across war-torn planets filled with conflict, political intrigue and tough moral choices. In intense battles, you command a massive war machine, customizing its loadout, weapons and upgrades. Between missions, you manage your squad in the hangar and fine-tune your gear for the next fight.
Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap - August 06 (Xbox Series X|S)
Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap is a chaotic blend of third-person shooter, tower defense and roguelite. As a powerful War Mage, you defend magical rifts against relentless waves of orcs – either solo or in co-op with up to four players. Each round begins with a tactical phase where you set up traps and barricades, followed by real-time combat. Every War Mage has a unique style, complete with their own traps, spells and special abilities. With each successful defense, you earn random buffs and debuffs, while shifting mechanics like weather and time add fresh challenges to every run.
Assassin's Creed Mirage - August 07 (Cloud, Console and PC)
Released in 2023, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the second most recent entry in Ubisoft’s legendary series. This time, players are transported to 9th-century Baghdad, following the story of Basim – a young street thief recruited by the Hidden Ones who rises to become a master assassin. Along the way, he becomes entangled in a far-reaching conspiracy led by the secretive Order of the Ancients, threatening the very balance of power in the city.
With Mirage, Ubisoft returns to the roots of the series – the game world is more compact, and the focus shifts back to stealthy gameplay, precise assassinations and fluid parkour. The previously dominant RPG elements have been significantly scaled back. A notable new feature is Assassin’s Focus, a special ability that lets Basim eliminate multiple targets in rapid succession. Fans of the early Assassin’s Creed titles will likely feel right at home.
