Samsung has done better in the past. As can be seen in iFixit's teardown, even removing the batteries in the Galaxy Z Fold7 is much more difficult than what we've come to expect from the South Korean company. It was relatively easy with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but with the new foldable, the repair experts have to resort to solvent because the pull tabs simply don't work well enough.
Only 3 out of 10 for repairability
But this is just one of several criticisms of Samsung's significantly thinner and now almost record-breaking Galaxy foldable. Even removing the cover display is extremely difficult since the adhesive used is difficult to loosen even with heat. Even more problematic is replacing the flexible AMOLED panel on the inside. Here, the plastic edge must first be laboriously removed, which is almost impossible to do without damaging the sensitive flex display, as iFixit points out. Last but not least, no repair manuals or replacement parts were provided with the device, resulting in a repairability score of 3 points (out of 10 maximum), a very poor result, especially given Samsung's extremely high official repair prices.
