Redmi already touts the K80 Ultra as the best Android flagship killer it has ever made, despite the fact it is not even on the market yet. It has made it onto the desk of a popular device teardown vlogger in advance of this event, though. The resulting video showcases the Ultra's potentially class-leading display, audio and cooling systems.

The Redmi K80 Ultra (also known as the K80 Extreme Edition) has been revealed to look a lot like its Pro sibling from the outside - yet is very different from the inside, as demonstrated in the latest WekiHome video.

The vlogger has picked out even more detail on the smartphone's various high-end specs out than Redmi itself has in its teasers in the process of tearing it down. For example, its 144Hz 1.5K display is apparently supplied by TCL, based on that OEM's M9 technology with DC dimming.

No less than 11,400mm2 of thermal film was found under that screen on its removal, augmenting an impressive stack of other solutions such as an advanced stainless-steel, dual-layer vapor chamber, a 6,800mm2 graphite pad and a lot of thermal paste.

A Dimensity 9400+ SoC from MediaTek, LPDDR5X RAM from Micron and UFS 4.1 internal storage from Samsung are found under all of those cooling components, and are thus backed to achieve up to 120fps gaming at reduced ("just 40.8°C") temperatures and improved power efficiency ("an average of 4.3W").

WekiHome also unearthed both parts of the K80 Ultra's potentially class-leading dual speaker system, joined by an unusually large (601.47mm3) and high-quality 0916C haptics motor from the same supplier (AAC Technologies).

The Ultra's ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, meanwhile, hails from Goodix while its 7,410mAh battery is supplied by ATL and Dongguan NVT.

For all the top-end internals Redmi has crammed into the K80 Ultra, the brand has also left some things out. WekiHome's teardown also reveals that its USB-C port is of the older 2.0 standard and will as such transfer files at 480 megabits per second (Mb/s) at best, compared to 3.2 in the Xiaomi 15 Pro.

Finally, while the Ultra will apparently be able to charge at up to 100W using the 120W Xiaomi HyperCharge power brick found in its retail box, it lacks any kind of wireless charging. It has to be said that the K80 Ultra's new flat-edged, CNC-machined aluminum frame did not seem overly thick in its new pre-launch appearance.
