The K80 Ultra is now officially poised to debut as a rival to other mid-year Android performance powerhouses such as the Honor GT Pro, although it is thought to run on MediaTek's Dimensity 9400+ SoC rather than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite.
The Xiaomi executive Thomas Wang has released a statement indicating that the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition's successor will cost only around 2,999 yuan (~$416) in China despite its premium specs, which are projected to include a potentially significant battery capacity upgrade and 2K display in addition to its top-end silicon.
Wang has also all but confirmed that the "K80 Extreme Edition" will have "luxurious" aspects, only one of which will be a flagship-grade metallic mid-frame, despite its price. Its actual launch date remains unscheduled, however.
Nevertheless, the K80 Ultra (also believed to join the Xiaomi 14T Pro on Amazon one day) is shaping up to "be a completely reborn upgrade" soon in 2025.
