Samsung Electronics has officially launched what it calls the world's first Micro RGB display — a new technology debuting on a 115-inch screen that aims to set a new benchmark for color accuracy in the ultra-premium TV segment.
According to the release, the technology uses individually controlled RGB micro LEDs — each smaller than 100 micrometers — as a backlight behind the panel. Samsung says this architecture allows for “unprecedented precision” in control, resulting in an unrivaled level of color accuracy and contrast.
The electronics maker says a “Micro RGB AI engine” analyzes each frame in real time to optimize the picture, while a feature called Micro RGB Color Booster Pro intelligently enhances colors for a more vivid viewing experience. For color accuracy, the new technology achieves 100% coverage of the BT.2020 international standard, and has received certification from a German electrical engineering certification institute named VDE.
Beyond picture quality, the company says the display integrates Samsung Vision AI to power a smarter, generative AI-driven Bixby voice assistant. The system is protected by Samsung Knox security and will benefit from 7 years of Tizen OS updates. After its launch in Korea, the technology will grace the U.S., with a global rollout to follow.
