Samsung Display is about to launch a new foldable display brand. Mont Flex is expected to get an official unveiling at the K-Display 2025 event in Seoul on August 7, highlighting the Korean company's confidence in foldable smartphones and other innovative product categories.

Samsung Display has announced the launch of a new foldable display brand named Mont Flex. This comes just ahead of the K-Display 2025 exhibition where the company plans to unveil the brand before consumers and business partners on August 7. The South Korean conglomerate has had a significant presence in the foldable device market since 2019 when it launched a foldable smartphone for the first time ever – the original Samsung Galaxy Fold.

With the launch of this dedicated brand, the company hopes to set new standards and solidify its standing in the display solution market. Devices sporting Mont Flex branding products will supposedly be instantly recognizable and expected to conform to the highest standards of durability and performance.

Samsung hasn't revealed which device will be the first to sport the Mont Flex branding, though the honor is likely going to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 which is expected to launch in 2026.

The name ‘Mont Flex’ has apparently been inspired by the French word 'mont', meaning mountain and hinting at the company's lofty ambitions in the field of foldable display technology and its aspiration to reach the very peak of innovation in the industry.

Things do not end here as the word ‘Mont' can be further dissected to reveal an even deeper meaning. Here, ‘M’ stands for ‘mechanically durable’, meaning such displays are going to exhibit exception strength in spite of being foldable. Thereafter, 'O' stands for ‘opto-mechanically flat’, which means the display will have minimal crease at the point it bends.

Next comes ‘N’ which signifies ‘narrow bezels’. That naturally translates to the maximum possible screen area with the overall device dimension remaining the minimum. Lastly, there is ‘T’ which stands for ‘thin and lightweight design’. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 devices launched recently are proof enough that foldable devices need not be thick and unwieldly. Things likely are going to be even more slim and sleek with the future range of Mont Flex branded devices.
