With just two weeks to go before the next Galaxy Unpacked event, speculations surrounding the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s specifications are once again heating up. One key question remains: Will Samsung’s new foldable still support the S-Pen despite the digitiser being axed? Multiple leakers have previously claimed that Samsung faced manufacturing issues, allegedly leading to a halt in the new S-Pen’s production. In any case, persistent rumours suggest that Samsung may gradually phase out stylus support in Galaxy phones over time.
However, highly promising new developments have seemingly emerged for S-Pen fans. According to X user @PandaFlashPro, production of the stylus has resumed, and the problem was reportedly attributed to software rather than the S-Pen itself. Nevertheless, this information should be taken with a grain of salt, as this leaker doesn’t have a particularly solid track record. PandaFlashPro also claimed the new S-Pen has been "confirmed" to be nearly as slim as its predecessor.
Galaxy S26 Ultra could be thinner and add Qi2 magnets
Further tweets by the leaker offered even more intriguing bits of information, including ones related to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The successor to the Galaxy S25 Ultra (available here on Amazon) will apparently forgo the digitiser layer to shave off a fraction of a millimetre in thickness. Magnets reportedly also no longer interfere with the new stylus technology, potentially paving the way for Qi2 magnetic wireless charging – much like the built-in MagSafe magnets in newer iPhone models. That said, it's worth reiterating that this feature hasn’t been officially confirmed yet and remains largely a speculation by the leaker.
