The Vivo X Fold5 has now arrived and is available to order from China or globally via importers. Available with a curious set of changes from last year's X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro, the X Fold5 will quickly be replaced as the latest book-style foldable by the Honor Magic V5 on July 2.
Honor had already made clear that the Magic V5 would undercut the X Fold5 not just on thickness but also on weight. The company had also boasted that its latest flagship would be more powerful than the outgoing Magic V3 (curr. $1,1550 on Amazon), which features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset like the new X Fold5.
Now, Honor has also revealed that the Magic V5 will surpass its rivals with an upgraded telephoto camera too. For context, the Oppo Find N5 and X Fold5 leverage 50 MP telephoto cameras, although the latter's has a larger optical format than the former's at 1/1.95-inches versus 1/2.75-inches. Also, the X Fold5 boasts a wider aperture than the Find N5 at f/2.6 and f/2.7, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Magic V5 will launch next week with a 64 MP periscope camera that also supports tele-macro photography. Matching the X Fold3 Pro on megapixels, the Magic V5's new camera also leverages optical image stabilisation (OIS) like all of its rivals. Unfortunately, other details about Honor's new telephoto camera remain unknown for now.
