The ultra-large display smartphone is coming back, and Honor might be the Android OEM to make that happen, according to a new leak. The company is now tipped to augment its upcoming Magic8 series of flagships with the spec, which might also make its way to a new mid-ranger beforehand.

More and more Android smartphone OEMs are projected to release next-gen compact variants, based on the success of the OnePlus 13s and Vivo S30 Pro Mini in 2025.

There is still apparently room for bigger and bigger displays in the industry, though, as at least 1 company is backed to smash through the typical ~6.8-inch limit in the next generation of its handsets.

It might be introduced as the Honor Magic8 Max (which might be ironic, as the OEM had once been rumored to have produced a Magic7 Mini by now) thanks to its new 6.9-inch panel, compared to 6.8 inches in the current full-sized Magic7 Pro

Apparently, Honor perceives the demand for distinctly non-Mini smartphones (for gaming, perhaps?) as so great that it might also release a less premium smartphone with an even larger 6.96-inch display.

The identity of this device remains uncertain at this time, although there are a number of candidates, successors for the X60 GT, ultra-high-capacity Power and perhaps even the flagship-killing GT Pro included.

The OnePlus 13s: now INR 54,998 on Amazon in India
