The RedMagic 10 "Pro" and "Ultra" is now thought to dwarf even its cutting-edge Android gaming powerhouse predecessors on various levels. One of them might also become the largest Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered device to date on its launch. Then again, the devices are also believed to ditch a key part of the RedMagic signature look in order to do so.

Several Android OEMs have embraced the compact trend in their fresh new flagship line-ups - however, to say RedMagic is now rumored not to be among them would be an understatement.

In fact, Nubia's premium gaming smartphone brand is now thought to go in the opposite direction altogether, with a 9 Pro successor backed for an upgrade to a "high-resolution screen" of about 7 inches (rather than the usual, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra-esque 6.8-inch value) in diagonal length.

Furthermore, its series-first Ultra sibling (thought to supplant the traditional Pro Plus top-end SKU as the new RedMagic flagship later in 2024) might be even bigger.

However, a compromise might have been made to reach that size: it seems RedMagic has ditched its truly edge-to-edge, punch-hole-free screen in favor of more real estate in its next flagship's flat display.

That is almost a shame, as the under-display camera (UDC) technology responsible is now thought to have reached a new peak in Nubia's own upcoming Z70 Ultra.

Then again, RedMagic's alleged divergence might let it get more out of the new Snapdragon 8 Elite platform in other ways.
