8BitDo Ultimate released as new telescopic Android controller with Hall effect joysticks and triggers for $49.99
8BitDo is having a rather busy week. Not content with releasing one controller, it has decided to open pre-orders for a second. This time, the company has introduced a new telescopic Android controller, which it claims inherits design elements from its Ultimate controller series.
Consequently, the 8BitDo Ultimate has an ergonomic build and features that many first-party controllers lack. On the one hand, 8BitDo has integrated Hall effect joysticks and triggers, which are also customisable using the company's software. On the other hand, the 8BitDo has a pair of back paddle buttons, as well as a front layout that mimics an Xbox controller.
Moreover, the Ultimate has a 350 mAh battery that 8BitDo rates for up to 15 hours of playtime between charges. As a result, the controller weighs 236 g and comes in at 198 x 103 x 53.5 mm. Please note that it should fit devices that are between 100 mm and 170 mm tall. However, they must also be capable of running Android 9.0 or newer.
Incidentally, the new 8BitDo Ultimate will also ship significantly sooner than the 8BitDo 64 too, which is not slated to roll out of warehouses until March 2025. By contrast, the 8BitDo Ultimate will receive a full release in just over a month's time. In the meantime, the telescopic Android controller is available to pre-order on Amazon for $49.99 in black and white finishes.
