With Hall-effect sensors becoming cheaper and more widely available, controllers utilising magnetic joysticks — usually to avoid problems like premature wear and stick drift — have become more popular. One of the most commonly recommended brands for such Hall-effect controllers is 8BitDo, and one of that brand's best and most stylish controllers just got a big price cut on Amazon.
For the duration of the limited-time Amazon deal, the 8BitDo Pro 2 Bluetooth controller is just $38.39 in the black colourway, with the vintage computing-styled G Classic Edition and Gray Edition colourways coming in a few cents cheaper at $39.99.
The 8BitDo Pro 2 Bluetooth controller's design takes inspiration from classics like the Nintendo SNES controller, with its simplistic top view, and the classic PlayStation joystick locations and ergonomic hand grips. Aside from the obvious dual joysticks, triggers and shoulder buttons, D-pad, start, select, and ABXY buttons, the Pro 2 Bluetooth also packs two extra customisable buttons on the hand grips.
The whole joystick can be customised using 8BitDo's Ultimate software for PC, mac, Android, and iOS, and given that the controller is highly compatible with mobile devices, 8BitDo also sells a nifty mobile clip to attach your smartphone to the controller when gaming on the go. As for low-latency PC gaming, the Pro 2 can also connect via a USB type-C cable for a higher polling rate and better latency.
