We've previously reported on the GameSir Super Nova, and now the model is available for customers outside of China. The price tag is $44.99; numerous other currencies are possible and shipping is free. The controller aims to impress with its modern layout and input-sensitive controls. As is to be expected for the price range, the joysticks do not use potentiometers but Hall sensors, which are said to be drift proof. GameSir also incorporates this technology into the triggers. A switch can be used to shorten the trigger travel, which is useful if you want to control the throwing of a grenade rather than the accelerator pedal in a racing game.
The layout is basically the same as an Xbox controller, so the two analog sticks are not at the same height. There is also a directional pad, plus two additional buttons on the back, which support both single-button mapping and macro recording. A sampling rate of 1,000 Hz is advertised.
Virtually all elements of the controller, such as the buttons, sticks or RGB lighting, can be fully customized via GameSir Connect software on the PC or via the GameSir app on the smartphone. Wireless connectivity in the form of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth is available, and a cable connection is also possible. A rather unusual aspect is the magnetic detachable faceplace, which allows for easy changing of the design on the front. A battery with a capacity of 1,000 mAh is installed, which is recharged via the smart auto start-stop charging station.
