Pro controllers are often seen as overpriced, with features that are overkill for most gamers. Still, when every millisecond matters, the most competitive players turn to the wireless Razer Wolverine V3 Pro. Like the brand's popular gaming keyboards and mice, it emphasizes rapid and accurate inputs. Since appearances also matter, the Wolverine V3 Pro and wired Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition are now available in white.
The Wolverine V3 Pro is often compared to Microsoft's Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. However, some gamers find that Razer's wireless Xbox controller feels a bit more comfortable in their hands. It also includes two additional remappable top bumpers to accompany four customizable back paddles. Perhaps the Wolverine V3 Pro's largest advantage is its Hall effect analog sticks. Many buyers sing the praises of these drift-resistant thumbsticks. Unfortunately, the technology is absent from Microsoft and Sony's esports controllers.
It's slightly disappointing that the Wolverine V3 Pro doesn't sport elaborate RGB effects. Gamers must be content with an illuminated Razer logo below the Xbox guide button. The Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition is even more basic without any lighting. Fortunately, the new white color makes the controllers stand out in a sea of black competitors.
The white Wolverine V3 Pro retails for $199.99, so the corded Tournament Edition is a welcome alternative. The $99.99 Wolverine V3 TE offers the same refined ergonomics and responsive mecha-tactile buttons. The pricier wireless Xbox controller connects to PCs and consoles through a low-latency RF dongle. Even so, a USB cable is needed for a 1000Hz polling rate on both models. Also, the Tournament Edition lacks some perks, like a carrying case and swappable thumbstick covers.
The brighter Razer wireless Xbox controller options are already for sale on the company's website and in its retail stores.
