Sony refreshes PlayStation Portal and DualSense Edge with Midnight Black Collection releases

A few months have passed since reports emerged that Sony was considering refreshing the PlayStation Portal (curr. $199 on Amazon) with a new colour option. Now, the company has unveiled the Midnight Black Collection, of which a new PlayStation Portal is a part.

Described as 'sleek' and 'galaxy-inspired' in a press release, the refreshed PlayStation Portal contains the same underlying hardware as the original white variant. Consequently, the Midnight Black option should be capable of streaming games from the PlayStation Plus catalogue at launch.

Moreover, the Midnight Black Collection also includes fresh DualSense Edge, Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore releases. Incidentally, Sony already offers the DualSense and PlayStation 5 (PS5) console covers in the same finish and adds the following in its press release:

Each Midnight Black accessory features a unique, rich shade of black, with sleek detailing on various buttons and accents such as the PlayStation logo. The Midnight Black design extends to the included charging case for Pulse Explore earbuds, charging hanger for Pulse Elite headset, and carrying case for DualSense Edge controller. The Pulse Elite wireless headset and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds will also include a felt grey carrying case.

According to Sony, pre-orders will open for all Midnight Black Collection devices on January 16 at 15:00 UTC before shipping on February 20. For reference, Sony has priced its four new releases as follows:
