Game Pass subscribers have four new titles to explore in the second week of January. The highlights are expected to be Lightyear Frontier and Robin Hood: Sherwood Builders. For a more laid-back experience, you might enjoy My Time at Sandrock or Rolling Hills.
Lightyear Frontier (Game Preview) (Xbox Series X|S) - January 8
Lightyear Frontier blends farming simulation with open-world exploration. As an intergalactic pioneer, you set out to build a new home on a distant alien planet. Equipped with a powerful mech, you’ll cultivate fields, harvest exotic plants and gather resources to expand and improve your farm steadily.
The game combines sandbox and survival elements, allowing players to freely design and experiment with their farms while managing resources efficiently. At the same time, they must navigate environmental hazards and tackle unexpected challenges. In co-op mode, up to three friends can join the adventure. Lightyear Frontier is currently available as a game preview (early access), meaning it’s playable but still under development.
My Time at Sandrock (Console) - January 8
My Time at Sandrock, the sequel to the beloved life simulation RPG My Time at Portia, takes players to a post-apocalyptic desert town. Once a flourishing settlement, Sandrock is now struggling with economic decline caused by harsh desert conditions and resource shortages. As the town’s new craftsman, players work to pull Sandrock out of its crisis. The game emphasizes crafting, farming and exploration. You’ll gather resources, build machines and tools, complete construction projects and assist the townsfolk with everyday and special tasks. Along the way, you’ll face threats from bandits and dangerous creatures. Combat is in real time, letting players use both melee and ranged weapons.
Robin Hood - Sherwood Builders (Xbox Series X|S) - January 8
This open-world RPG with city-building elements reimagines the tale of Robin Hood. Players step into the role of the legendary outlaw, leading a rebellion in Sherwood Forest against the oppressive Sheriff of Nottingham. The gameplay combines action RPG mechanics, where you engage in combat with sword and bow against guards and enemy forces, with strategic elements focused on building and expanding your camp. Players can recruit allies, defend Sherwood from attacks and raid enemy convoys to secure resources and treasure.
Rolling Hills: Make Sushi, Make Friends (Console) - January 8
Rolling Hills is a delightful life simulation game where players step into the role of a sushi store owner, who happens to be a robot. You'll manage every aspect of the business, from purchasing ingredients or growing them in your own garden to creating new recipes, serving customers and expanding the restaurant. Beyond the sushi shop, players can explore a charming village, interact with its endearing residents and lend a hand with various tasks, immersing themselves in the cozy community.
