Walkscape is an indie-made fitness RPG encouraging you to walk for epic loot. If that sounds like Pokemon GO, Walkscape differentiates itself in a few ways. For starters, you can play the game offline if you want to.
Unlike other fitness-based games, Walkscape does not need a GPS and instead uses your device's pedometer to count your steps. You can also walk anywhere, like on a treadmill, to make progress in-game.
The developers say the game will not be "hungry for your attention," and you don't even need it open in the background to make progress. It will save your steps for when you reconnect online later. Walkscape takes inspiration from old-school MMORPGs like Runescape. It's set in a fantasy world where you grind for experience to level up your skills, craft items, complete quests, and find legendary loot.

Details here
The game started development in 2022 and is now in closed beta. The project has so far been 100% funded by the community around it through Patreon and Buy Me a Coffee subscriptions.
While there are no concrete details on pricing yet, there will likely be a subscription fee if you want to access the game's online features, such as leaderboards. There will also be a free tier with limited access to certain parts of the game world. If you want to play the game fully offline, you only have to pay a one-time fee.
The developers have said that subscriptions do not give unfair advantages (extra gold, extra exp, level boosts, etc) over free players and will only gate certain areas of the in-game map. There are also no DLCs or microtransactions planned for the game.
