Capcom has announced that the Resident Evil 4 remake has sold 9 million copies worldwide. The game launched in 2023 to a glowing critical reception and sold over 5 million copies by the end of that year.

Capcom has announced the Resident Evil 4 remake has sold over 9 million copies. It's now one of the fastest-selling entries in the franchise, selling over a million copies in the last quarter alone.

According to sales data from Capcom (till September 2024), the Resident Evil 2 remake remains the best-selling entry in the franchise, with over 14 million units sold. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is second with 14 million units, and Resident Evil Village is third with over 10 million units.

Of the older Resident Evil titles, Resident Evil 5 has sold nearly 9.5 million copies. Resident Evil 6 moved 9.3 million units, and Resident Evil 3 remake sold 9.2 million units.

Capcom has already confirmed that there are more Resident Evil titles coming. Yasuhiro Anpo, director of Resident Evil 4 remake, told IGN last year that there were more remakes on the way.

"We've released three remakes so far and they have all been received very well," said Anpo. "Since it allows a modern audience to play these games, it is something I am happy to do as someone that loves these older games, and we want to continue doing more."

According to rumors reported by Bloody Disgusting, Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine will team up for Resident Evil 9. Series heartthrob Chris Redfield will return as a supporting character, along with Barry Burton, who debuted in the very first Resident Evil game in 1996.
