Each time Capcom releases a new Monster Hunter game, fans anticipate new monsters posing challenges for hunters. However, there is also speculation about which classic creatures from past titles will return. The latest Monster Hunter Wilds Japanese TV ad showcases Blangonga, a giant arctic ape that first appeared in Monster Hunter 2. With the upcoming game rendering monsters in greater detail, fans are anxious to see how Blangonga will look and behave up close.
With his giant fangs, there is no mistaking the sight of Blangonga, even when camouflaged in snow. Blangonga will likely be an apex predator dominating a region's smaller Monster Hunter Wilds monsters. Past iterations of the monster frustrated hunters with exceptional speed and ferocity. Adding to their problems, Blangonga would call upon a pack of smaller Blangos to ruthlessly gang up on players. Consequently, not all gamers are thrilled to face the beast after the February 28 Monster Hunter Wilds release date.
The Monster Hunter Wilds open beta only includes six large monsters, led by the difficult Arkveld. A trailer at Sony's recent State of Play featured more creatures players can expect to face in the full game. Then, Capcom's Japanese ad gave glimpses at Blangonga and other enticing targets for hunters.
Much of the Capcom video focused on colder environments in the game. Jin Dahaad, an enormous sea serpent, will make his Monster Hunter debut in this climate. Strangely, Blangonga wasn't alive in the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion. Instead, he last appeared in the 2017 Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.
In the second Monster Hunter Wilds open beta, gamers are currently sharpening their hunter skills. That includes finding monsters' weak points and attacking wounds with the new Focus Mode. In previous games, Blangonga was vulnerable to fire, with many players aiming to break off his fangs and tail. Still, the primate may have a few new tricks to confuse gamers in Monster Hunter Wilds.
