Only one new title has been announced for Xbox Game Pass this week. However, Microsoft typically reveals mid-month additions to the subscription service, so there’s still a chance more games could follow. Either way, subscribers can look forward to a major release – Avowed, a new action RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, the studio behind Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds.
The first review of Avowed leaked even before the embargo was lifted. On February 15, the game launched in Advanced Access, allowing buyers of the $90 Deluxe Edition to start playing ahead of the official release. Since then, the action RPG has amassed over 1,800 Steam reviews, with 81% being positive. On Metacritic, Avowed currently holds a solid Metascore of 80, while the user score is still pending. For fans of the genre, it’s a great addition to Microsoft’s gaming subscription. Starting February 18, Avowed will be available on Xbox Game Pass.
Vibrant fantasy world and intense combat
Avowed takes players to the "Land of the Living," a lush yet troubled realm afflicted by a mysterious plague. As an emissary of Aedyr, your mission is to uncover its cause. The combat system offers plenty of flexibility, allowing players to wield classic weapons like swords and bows while enhancing their attacks with elemental magic. Different attack types make battles more dynamic and engaging. The game supports both first- and third-person perspectives, though the experience is clearly designed with a focus on first-person gameplay.
