LG smart TVs have a central hub for games and gaming services called Gaming Portal. It is similar to Samsung's Gaming Hub which is available on its smart TVs, smart monitors, and even projectors such as The Freestyle (available on Amazon for $797.99). LG's Gaming Portal is currently only available on its smart TVs running webOS 23 and newer, but the Korean giant has announced that it will soon be available on other products later this year.
LG revealed in a press statement that Gaming Portal will be coming to more platforms and devices including LG Smart Monitors, and its battery-powered mobile lifestyle screen, the LG StanbyME, in the second quarter of the year. The service, which is currently available in 19 markets, will also be expanded to more regions.
The LG Gaming Portal includes both native webOS games and titles from multiple gaming services such as Nvidia GeForce Now, Amazon Luna, Boosteroid, and Blacknut. In addition to expanding Gaming Portal to more platforms and markets, LG has also announced that it will also soon add Xbox Cloud Gaming Service, thus turning every LG device with Gaming Portal into an Xbox.
Titles on LG's Gaming Portal are categorized into two — there are those that can be played with the remote control and others that require a game controller. Users can also curate their personal game list or choose a game to play from either the top 10 trending games or from a list of editor's picks.
