Samsung has announced a second generation of its innovative The Freestyle projector, designed to throw a 1080p image of 30 to 100 inches in size anywhere in an automatic "Point and Play" manner. This new variant is shipped pre-loaded with a Hub full of gaming apps such as NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Amazon Luna, Twitch and Xbox Game Pass out of the box.

The projector that probably looks the most like the Bat-Signal on its market is back with a new version, and as such has the same flexibility in where it can point its thrown image, including at the ceiling if necessary. Samsung has chosen to pitch The Freestyle at gamers in its second generation, with its new dedicated Hub for apps such as Twitch and GeForce NOW.

Samsung asserts that it supports Xbox game streaming without a console in particular on The Freestyle Gen 2, although it should also act as a hub for all of the rest of the user's smart-home apps or functions as well. Alternatively, the second-gen device is touted as the ideal portable projector as well, with set-up made all but automatic with Auto Leveling, Auto Focus and Auto Keystone technology.

Otherwise, The Freestyle Gen 2 is still rated for the same HDR10+, 360 Sound, USB type-C and (unfortunately) micro-HDMI support of its predecessor. It has an MRSP of just over US$1,000 - however, it already has a 21% discount that brings it down to the US$797.99 price of its forebear ready to go on its release to Amazon pre-orders from August 31, 2023.
