Lenovo Legion 9i: Specifications and design of high-end gaming laptop revealed

Lenovo has revealed the specifications and the design of the Legion 9i, a high-end gaming laptop that combines Intel Raptor Lake-HX processors with RTX 40 GPUs. Specifically, Lenovo will offer the Legion 9i with the Core i9-13980HX, a 55 W TDP processor with 8 Raptor Cove performance cores, 16 Gracemont efficiency cores and 32 threads. For reference, the 8 performance cores can boost to 5.6 GHz, 100 MHz higher than the Core i9-13950HX.

The Legion 9i combines Intel's most powerful Raptor Lake-HX processor with the GeForce RTX 4090 16 GB, the top of NVIDIA's mobile product stack. Unsurprisingly, Lenovo mates these power-hungry components with a massive battery, a 4-cell pack that it rates at 99.9 Wh. Moreover, the gaming laptop features up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600 SODIMM RAM, two M.2 2280 slots and a 16-inch Mini LED display that outputs at 3.2K with a 165 Hz refresh rate and 1,200 nits peak brightness.

Somehow, Lenovo has packed all these components within an 18.9 mm thick housing. Furthermore, the company has integrated what it claims is the industry's thinnest water-cooling solution to prevent thermal throttling. Lenovo adds that its solution kicks in at 84 °C, reducing wear and tear on the built-in water pump. Pricing and a global release remain unknown at this stage, although VideoCardz notes that Lenovo has already informed reviewers of a launch date.
