Dell Alienware AW2524HF: New 500 Hz gaming monitor released as cheaper alternative to existing Alienware AW2524H
Dell has introduced the Alienware AW2524HF, building on the AW2524H that the company launched earlier this year. As their names suggest, the AW2524H and AW2524HF share many features, including a 24.5-inch Fast IPS panel that resolves at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and supports a 500 Hz refresh rate through overclocking. Please note that the AW2524HF can only output at 500 Hz when connected via one of its two DisplayPort 1.4 ports.
However, the AW2524HF supports up to 255 Hz gaming via its sole HDMI 2.1 port, 15 Hz faster than the AW2524H. Additionally, the former boasts 0.5 ms GtG response times and AMD FreeSync Premium technology to minimise image tearing but no NVIDIA G-SYNC. In effect, Dell has designed the AW2524HF for AMD graphics cards, with the AW2524H continuing to serve NVIDIA alternatives.

For reference, Dell has also equipped the AW2524HF with the following ports:
- 2x DisplayPort 1.4 (HDCP 1.4) (HDR/VRR supported)
- 1x HDMI 2.1 (HDCP 1.4) (HDR/VRR supported)
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) upstream
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) downstream
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) downstream (1x BC1.2 power charging support)
Moreover, the AW2524HF delivers 400 nits peak brightness, 99% sRGB colour space coverage and supports HDR10 content. Predictably, Dell has included a stand with height (110 mm), pivot (-90° to 90°), swivel (-20° to 20°) and tilt (-5° to 21°) adjustability. Dell will begin selling the AW2524HF on September 12 for US$649.99, US$180 less than the AW2524H. Unfortunately, Dell has not confirmed pricing for other markets yet, such as Europe or the UK.
