The Odin2 finally has a release date, with AYN Technologies also revealing full specifications for its new gaming handheld. As we have discussed previously, the Odin2 will rely on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a significant upgrade over the Snapdragon 845 powering its predecessor. AYN Technologies will complement the chipset with an 8,000 mAh battery, LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage, which are all befitting a modern flagship smartphone, let alone an affordable gaming handheld.
Additionally, the Odin2 will feature a 6-inch IPS display that outputs at 1080p in a 16:9 aspect ratio. Moreover, AYN Technologies has equipped the gaming handheld with Micro HDMI and USB 3.1 Type-C ports, as well as an active cooling solution to maximise the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and its Adreno 740 iGPU. For reference, the Odin2 measures 225 x 98 x 17 mm and weighs 420 g, making it slightly larger and heavier than the AYANEO Pocket Air.
The Odin2 will start at US$299, although it remains to be seen how many units AYN Technologies will sell at this 'Early Bird' pricing. Please note that this base model will eventually cost US$339 and will only come in black with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. AYN Technologies will begin selling the Odin2 through Indiegogo on August 22 at 12:00 UTC. Full Odin2 pricing and memory configurations are as follows:
