AOC is best known for releasing gaming monitors, the most recently with the Q27G3XMN. However, the company has also turned its hand to creating a portable alternative dubbed the GAMING 16G3. Contrary to what its name suggests, the AOC GAMING 16G3 does not have a 16-inch panel, which typically denotes a 16:10 aspect ratio.
Instead, the AOC has stuck with a 16:9 panel, presumably to avoid showing black bars when gaming. According to AOC, the GAMING 16G3 operates natively at 1080p (1,920 x 1,080) with a 144 Hz refresh rate, and 250 nits peak brightness. Additionally, the panel delivers a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 4 ms response times, albeit the latter is only true with Overdrive mode enabled.
The AOC GAMING 16G3 is also compact and lightweight, two features befitting a portable monitor. Specifically, the monitor is 11.5 mm thick and weighs 1.1 kg. Moreover, AOC has included a micro HDMI port for connecting most devices and two USB Type-C ports, one with DisplayPort Alt Mode and the other for power input. Furthermore, the GAMING 16G3 has a pair of stereo 1 W speakers, a 3.5 mm jack and an adjustable stand. Currently, AOC hopes to begin selling the GAMING 16G3 later this month for £249.99 in the UK.
