Samsung Odyssey Ark gaming monitor refreshed with new G97NC model

Samsung has announced an updated version of the Odyssey Ark, which it now calls the Odyssey Ark (G97NC). According to the company's press release, the new Odyssey Ark retains its predecessor's 55-inch curved panel. As such, the Odyssey Ark (G97NC) outputs natively at 3,840 x 2,160 pixels with an 1000R curvature and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Additionally, the gaming monitor has a 165 Hz default refresh rate, which it combines with 1 ms GtG response times and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology. Moreover, Samsung has applied a matte coating to minimise glare while gaming and its Quantum Matrix technology to maximise image quality. This year's Odyssey Ark will still ship with Samsung's Ark Dial too, an accessory that features a few shortcuts and allows you to move the display around to suit your needs.

While the new Odyssey Ark shares all those features with its predecessor, Samsung has added DisplayPort 1.4 connectivity and a KVM switch for using multiple devices with a single mouse and keyboard. Also, the Odyssey Ark (G97NC) can show four video inputs simultaneously using what Samsung describes as 'Multi View'. Unfortunately, Samsung has not provided a release date, although The Verge reports that the monitor will receive a US release in October.
