CD Projekt Red showed off some Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty gameplay footage at Gamescom 2023. It includes new weapons, cyberware, missions and a previously-inaccessible district, some of which will be available in the base game. The DLC will be playable on September 26 on current-gen consoles and PC.

Cyberpunk 2077's first (and only) story-driven DLC Phantom Liberty has been in the works for quite some time, in part due to it being CD Projekt Red's most "comprehensive" upgrade so far. It will be playable on current-gen consoles (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X) on September 26. The long wait may be worth it, as the expansion will bring forth a long list of upgrades.

For starters, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty includes a host of "powerful" weapons. Some of the more interesting ones are marked "illegal", indicating the player could get in trouble if seen in the open world with it. The gameplay trailer shows off a few, including a chainsaw and a Doom Eternal-esque Hammer, among other things. There are also new finisher moves, one of which lets you fling enemies at each other.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty also has some new perks and a "relic skill tree" for additional character customization. While the latter's purpose isn't clear, it could let you deflect bullets with your katana and other shenanigans with the "relic" attached to your character. There are a bunch of new vehicles thrown in the mix, too, along with an entirely new region and missions.

With the aforementioned vehicles comes another often-demanded mechanic, vehicular combat. Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty lets players tap into their Netrunner abilities to instantly stop, accelerate or even destroy an enemy vehicle. One can also retrofit their rides with all kinds of weapons. Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty fixes the game's comically-bad police AI, throws in some new cyberware and cosmetics, and increases the level cap. Some of the features will also make it to the base game. Phantom Liberty is, in essence, the 2.0 upgrade for the game, even for those who did not purchase the DLC.
