Samsung outs a 'first of its kind' portable Freestyle projector that can blow up your apps or Netflix to 100 inches
Samsung announced one of the coolest new products at the CES 2022 expo, a compact projector that can beam an up to 100" picture while being portable and equipped with all the modern ports and features. As expected, the projector comes with full auto keystone and auto leveling modes so that the picture perspective remains constant even if you point it at an angle. Speaking of angles, it is able to rotate 180 degrees and project everywhere around you - floor, wall, or ceiling.
Despite the dual passive radiator for its surround sound system that helps deliver deep and clear bass, the Freestyle weighs less than two pounds with the stand, so it is rather portable. In fact, it can be carried in the case accessory and powered by an external USB-PD battery with at least 50W/20V output for when you need to blow an image in the 30"-100" range while on the road. The native image contrast that the Samsung Freestyle is able to achieve is 300:1 and it can project in up to 1920x1080 definition.
The projector's Crystal Engine supports HDR10 imagery and the Freestyle can also be used as an ambient light lamp beaming up various patterns and colors thanks to a translucent lens cap. Samsung goes as far as calling the Freestyle a smart speaker, as it is "analyzing the music to pair visual effects that can be projected," and since the projector is running on the Tizen OS that its smartwatches and other clever gadgets used until recently, we can somewhat agree. The Samsung Freestyle Projector price is pegged at US$899.99 and it is available for preorder right now along with a US$59 case for carrying it around.
