Razer PC Remote Play launches as a Steam Link streaming rival with a few advantages
Cloud gaming often requires minimal setup, giving access to the latest titles on multiple devices. However, gamers who demand the highest-quality visuals can opt for PC to mobile streaming. Using already purchased titles, Razer PC Remote Play brings a desktop experience to smartphones. The service is ready for an official release after Razer debuted a beta version at CES 2025.
Razer has made several improvements in recent months to enhance its streaming technology. Gamers should find that Razer Cortex, the brains of the service, is easier to navigate. Finally, the AV1 video codec provides even smoother performance.
Steam Link is one of the most popular ways to stream an expansive library of titles to mobile devices. However, users often encounter black bars during gameplay. Razer PC Remote Play optimizes devices so that games take full advantage of maximum resolutions and refresh rates. The company encourages using its Razer Kishi mobile controllers, which are compatible with the service.
For its PC Remote Play, Razer is repurposing software many gamers already have installed. That said, multiple apps are necessary to stream games with low latency. PC users must set up Razer Cortex, while mobile devices need the Nexus and PC Remote Play apps. Signing in with a Razer ID on the client and host initiates automatic pairing. Without an account, gamers can use a PIN code instead.
Once setup is complete, titles on PC Game Pass, Steam, and Epic Games become options. There are currently no added costs, and anyone with a device using iOS 18 or Android 14+ can try Razer PC Remote Play today.
