Many gamers find Nvidia GeForce Now to be the highest-quality cloud gaming solution. That popularity has led to lengthy queues and caps on playtime. Now, several GeForce Now service tiers are sold out, disappointing players hoping to stream the latest games. What is Nvidia doing to address the shortages?

With the RTX 50 series arriving on January 30th, retailers expect incredible demand for the new GPUs. Now, several Nvidia GeForce Now cloud gaming tiers are unavailable for purchase. As complaints mounted, the German tech resource ComputerBase was the first to report on the shortages. The website eventually received a response from Nvidia customer support. Not surprisingly, the company confirmed that unprecedented interest in the service is responsible.

Like its competitors, the Nvidia cloud gaming solution gives players remote access to a large library of titles. However, Nvidia is fairly specific about what machines gamers will be using. The service offers several tiers, including a free option, a Performance tier with 1440p resolutions, and an Ultimate tier with 4K/240 fps gaming. Subscribers find that GeForce Now provides a similar experience as a local gaming rig with a pricey RTX graphics card. Gamers often experienced long wait times, even before some plans sold out entirely.

The US GeForce Now site lists the one-month Free and Performance plans as unavailable. Only the Ultimate tier with the RTX 4080 GPU is an option. Day passes, which provide a low-risk way to experiment with Nvidia cloud gaming, are also sold out. If gamers are willing to commit for six months, all but the Free options can still be ordered.

In November, Nvidia announced 100-hour monthly GeForce Now caps with a one-year grace period for existing subscribers. That came as a surprise to many members, especially since the Ultimate tier is rather pricey. Regardless, it hasn't prevented the shortages players are experiencing today. With the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 likely to be in limited supply, demand for a lower-cost gaming solution isn't likely to lessen anytime soon. Nvidia is working to restore server capacity, but it's unknown how long it will take to restock more tiers.
