Previously, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers could only stream games available from the Xbox Game Pass catalog, but that changes now as Xbox has announced that subscribers can now stream games they own even if it is not in the Game Pass catalog, albeit with a caveat.
According to a press release, Game Pass subscribers in all countries where Xbox Cloud Gaming is available will be able to stream games they own on TVs and browsers on supported devices such as smartphones, PCs, tablets. It is also available on other browser-supported devices including smart TVs, Meta Quest headsets, and Amazon Fire TV devices. However, users will have to wait until next year to be able to do so on their Xbox consoles and on the Xbox app for Windows.
The caveat is that only a few games are supported for now, specifically fifty. The list includes Assassin's Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Baldur's Gate 3, Balatro, Cyberpunk 2077, Hades, Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat 1, NBA 2K25, Star Wars Outlaws, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Undertale, and WWE 2K24. The full list of games is available in the source link below.
Xbox says users can stream any version of the games they own. So whether it is the standard edition or the complete edition of the game, you should have no issues streaming it. It has also revealed that it plans to continue to grow the library of supported games.
To start playing, sign in to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate as you would normally do on your supported device. There should be a new section that says Stream your own game
which has a list of games you own that are currently supported. The list also contains games that are supported but you don't own yet. Once you purchase a game, you can choose to stream it or download it on to your Xbox console such as the Xbox Series X Digital Edition (available on Amazon for $448).
